She was a mess
Broken
And lifeless
With shattered bones and torn veins
Empty heart, slit wrists, and damaged brain,
I found her in pieces
And picked her up
Put her back together
Stitched her wounds
And covered her scars
I taught her how to laugh
To live
To love
Told her she was beautiful
Because I knew she was beautiful
I made her love herself
She said she was still a mess
But I told her to be my mess
I told her to break my heart
To rip my veins
To cut my wrists
So she did
She tore me
Pulled me apart
Broke me
Used me
And threw me
So now I sit here
In pieces
Broken and lifeless
Waiting for her
Because my heart was made for loving
Her

Beautiful Paintings on Fallen Tree Logs Mirror Their Natural Origins

Artist Alison Moritsugu captures the essence of Mother Nature in her log paintings. These environmental pieces utilize trees as both the subject and the canvas. The fragmented nature of the trees allow the designer to paint directly onto the rustic wood. Once her realistic work is complete, what results is a painting that explores the history of American landscapes. Moritsugu allows viewers to see what America was like when settlers first arrived and additionally depicts the destructive effects of industrialization.
